It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Maurice Melanson, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born in Atholville, he was the son to Rita Melanson (Poirier) and the late Emile Melanson.

He was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, serving time in Germany and parts of Europe.

He leaves behind his three children: Sophie Melanson (Jean-Marc) of Moncton, Katie Couture (Andre) of Alberta and Eric Melanson of Moncton.

Two grandchildren: Jessica Frenette and Dominic Couture both of Alberta.

Ten siblings: Raymond Melanson, Diane Allain (Jim), Jeannine Parent (Louis) all of Dieppe, Claudette Melanson and Lisette Melanson both of Beresford, Lorraine Melanson Lewis (Jude) of Petit-Rocher, Carole Melanson and Doris Hébert (Daniel) both of Beresford, Jean-Guy Melanson (Rosa) of Toronto and Juliette Melanson of Nigadoo.

Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his father he was predeceased by a brother Normand, two sisters: Louise and Suzanne.

The family would like to thank the staff at Southern Comfort for all the care they provided Maurice.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. from Elhatton’ s Funeral Home Chapel.

Donations in memory of Maurice may be made to a charity of a donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’ s Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
