  • Marion Godin 1935-2025

  •  Date of Death: December 28, 2025
  •  Location: Bathurst

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marion Godin, which occurred on Sunday December 28, 2025, at Losier Hall, Miramichi, at the age of 90.

Marion was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine Sturgeon of Doaktown, NB. She is survived by her children: Catherine Chapman (late Wells) of Janeville, NB, Susan Prestidge of Burlington, ON, Colette Godin of Bathurst, Peter Godin (Carol) of Halifax, and Paula Chiasson (Judd) of Bathurst. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Jennie, Jayme, Jessica, Adam, Andrew, Jacob, Kelsi, Jason, Justin, Ashley, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Donald O. Godin; her brother William Sturgeon (Joyce) and her son-in-law Wells Chapman.

Following her graduation in Doaktown, she moved to Fredericton, NB, where she met and married Donald. They eventually moved to Bathurst when Donald started teaching at the trade school. Marion worked for W.J. Kent and Co. for a few years. She moved to Burlington, ON where she called home for over 30 years, and returned to Bathurst area in her later years.

She loved to start up a conversation wherever she went, trying to make a connection to someone she knew. She had a fond love of cats, enjoyed knitting, and the simple things in life.

There will be a family service later in the spring.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Losier Hall for their compassionate care during her stay.

Arrangements are under the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
