Sharon Elaine Stothart was born in 1947 in the small fishing village of Forchu on beautiful Cape Breton Island, to Conrad MacDonald and Nema Nickerson. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to Miramichi and Elliot Lake before eventually settling in Bathurst, where she built the life and family she loved so dearly. Sharon worked alongside her husband for many years at the family business. Sharon had a creative spirit and a special gift for making a house feel like a home. She loved decorating for every season, cross-stitching beautiful pieces, and settling in to watch her favourite mystery shows. She also enjoyed shopping and took great pride in her yard, spending countless hours tending to her flowers, and making her outdoor surroundings as beautiful and welcoming as her home. She was known for her quick wit, wonderful sense of humour, and her ability to bring laughter and joy to any gathering. Sharon was truly the life of the party, always ready with a clever remark or a funny story that would leave everyone smiling. Above all, Sharon cherished her family and the memories they created together.
She is survived by her loving husband, Daryll; her daughters, Stacey Kenny (Bernie) and Shandy Noble (Chris); her grandsons, Adam (Laura), Ryan (Nikitta), and Cole (Kim); and her four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Richard, sister-in-law Phyllis Stothart and brother-in-law Keith Stothart (Karen), along with several nieces and nephews that she adored.
Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Daryll McDonald, her niece, Kim Craik, and brothers-in-law Jim Stothart, Ian Stothart and Robert Richard.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who cared for Sharon in her home over the past several years. A very special thank-you goes to Claudette and Eva, who were not only devoted caregivers but also wonderful friends to Sharon up until her final days. Their kindness, affection, and friendship meant so much to Sharon and her family. The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Sharon during the past few months and especially throughout her final days. The genuine tenderness with which she was cared for will never be forgotten. Donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Luxor Shriners Transportation Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
