Bathurst- It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Bruce David Russell, the beloved husband of Madeline (Benjamin) Russell who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 75, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on October 2, 2026. 

Born in Dalhousie, he was the son of the late Truman Russell and the late Winifred (nee Harquail) Russell. 

Bruce is survived by stepdaughter: Caroline Hayden; siblings: Gary Russell (Pauline) and Gail Pitre; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bruce is predeceased by sister: Peggy Rhio; niece: Tracy Ross; nephew: Jason Russell and stepdaughter: Sarah Lauren Hayde.

Bruce was the youngest of four children; choosing to serve his country in both the Canadian Army as well as the Canadian Navy where he quickly rose through the ranks becoming an officer in a short amount of time. He found love in music and had many talents, he was able to play most instruments. Bruce loved to laugh, he had the most wonderful since of humour and a smile for all those who knew him. 

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Church service in Bruce’s honor will be held at a later date. Donations in Bruces may be made to the Lung Association.
