  •  Date of Death: July 25, 2026
  •  Location: Bathurst

Dunlop- It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Eric (Jim) Fredrick Fitzpatrick, 65, of Mulgrave, NS, who passed away after a brief battle with cancer, on July 25, 2026.

Jim was born to the late Mary Gail Fitzpatrick (nee Fougere) and Eric James Fitzpatrick.

He married Cecilia Fitzpatrick in 2020. Jim is survived by his wife, Cecilia Fitzpatrick (nee Parsons); siblings: Lola Cogswell, Frankie Fitzpatrick, Jeannie O’Leary (Sean O’Leary); Children: Cheryll Banks (Neil Banks) and Eric Fitzpatrick (Charlie Fitzpatrick); honorary children: Tracy Hadley and David Kendall; step-children: Amanda Lavigne (Jamie Lavigne), Stacy Chamberlain (Lance Chamberlain), Patricia McNutt (Brandon McNutt), Elise McAleer, Sarah McAleer, and Cody McAleer (Ashley Dunlap); and grandchildren on Cecilia’s side.

Beside his parents Jim is predeceased by sibling, Cathy Cass.

Jim, ever the optimist, was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan and had hoped they would win a Stanley cup during his lifetime – but we don’t always get what we want. Jim loved sports, he was a member of the 1981 Gold Medal Canada Games Softball team and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.

Jim Loved his family, his grandchildren, and his Tim Horton’s Coffee. Jim was well-known, well-liked, and a friend to all. Jim had a large heart, a vibrant sense of humour, and was well-versed in colourful language.

As pre-Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home, Jim has chosen cremation. A celebration of life will follow. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, NB.
