It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Jean-Claude Lagacy which occurred after a brief illness on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst at the age of 80.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Ludger and Leda (Chiasson) Lagacy.

Dad is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Juliette (Thibodeau) and his two children; Monique (Keith Doucet) of Bathurst and Luc (Andrea Aucoin) of Halifax; his two precious grandchildren which he loved more than life itself Brianna “Poune” and Luc “Ti-Luc” both of Halifax. He is also survived by two sisters: Rita Lagacy and Jeannita Doucet (Gerard); two brothers: Leonard Lagacy and Jean Ludger Lagacy (Jeannine) all of Bathurst.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law which he all loved and cared for dearly.

Dad worked many years for the Atlantic Wholesalers but his true passion in life was carpentry and an amazing carpenter he was, he took pride and was very meticulous and it showed in his work. He was always keeping busy with new projects and was at his happiest when he was building or fixing anything that had to do with wood, a hammer, and working with his hands.

He had a big heart and didn’t like seeing anyone struggle; was always concerned and cared very much for the well being of others especially when it came to his family, he was always ready and willing to give a helping hand in anyway he could to whomever needed it.

Beside his parents, Dad is predeceased by three brothers: Raoul Lagacy (Rejeanne), Raymond Lagacy (Norma), Simon Lagacy (Gisele) and a nephew: Jason Lagacy.

The family wishes to thank everyone in the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital as well as Dre. Nathalie White, who took absolute wonderful care of Dad during his final days, we will forever be grateful to each and everyone of you, you all showed us so much kindness and it truly meant the world to Mom and I.

Following Dads wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home, a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held at the Scared Heart Cathedral on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 2pm.

In memory of Dad, donations can be made to a memorial of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
