Bathurst - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Claudette Cunningham, wife of the late Donald Cunningham, announces her passing which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Isidore Hachey and Brigitte (Albert) Hachey Boudreau.
Claudette left Bathurst at the age of 16 and moved to Toronto, where she worked for General Electric until her retirement. Upon her retirement, she and her husband Donald moved back to Bathurst and on to several other cities before finally settling down for good in Bathurst.
Claudette was well known as an avid animal lover. Any sad story about animals would bring tears to her eyes.
She is survived by a daughter, Claudia Jensen (Keith) of Bermuda; two grandchildren, Logan Mello of Toronto and Ryan Mello (Emily) of Fairhope, AB, USA. Four great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, John, Billy and Aria.
Nine sisters, Colombe Boudreau (Barb) of Deer Island, NB, Joanne Tower (Gary), Claudette Guitard (Raymond), Merita Roy (Daniel), Anita Aubé (Reno), Annabelle Gauvin (late Yvon), Rose-Marie Boudreau (late Albenie) all of Bathurst, Lucie Solazzo (Gerry) of London, ON and Margaret-May Noël of Fredericton. She is also survived by two brothers: Clifford Boudreau (Kathleen) of Petit-Rocher and Henri Boudreau (Lorraine) of Gentilly, QC. As well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five sisters; Géralda Hachey in infancy, Patricia Vienneau, Carmel Thibodeau, Noëlla Trainor and Blanche O’Connell, as well as five brothers; Pierre-Paul Hachey, Camille Hachey, Vernon Boudreau, Ernest Boudreau and Roger Boudreau and her stepfather, Clifford Boudreau.
As per Claudette’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family get together will be held at a later date.
