It is with great sadness that the family of Valbert A. Melanson, of Bathurst, announces his passing, which occurred on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, with family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Valbert was 77 years old.
Born in Tracadie, he was the son of the late Wilfred and the late Geraldine (Dugas) Melanson.
He is survived by his wife Madeleine (LeBlanc) Melanson; sons: Guy Melanson (Meghan) of Truro, NS, and Roger Melanson (Julie) of Bathurst.
Four grandchildren; Gabriel, William, Théo and Lucas Melanson.
His siblings; Valeda Melanson (Ali), Mona Melanson (Bernard), Claire Rehberg (Ken) and Berthe Melanson (Charles).
Several nieces and nephews.
His brother and sisters-in-law; Nicole LeBlanc (Gerald), Jean-Eudes LeBlanc (Monique), Jean-Yves LeBlanc (Lise), Claude LeBlanc (Johanne), Serge LeBlanc (Nicole) and Huguette LeBlanc.
Besides his parents, Valbert was predeceased by a younger brother Robert Melanson, and brother-in-law Marc LeBlanc.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 1 p.m. on Friday, July 4th, 2025 at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) until time of funeral which will be celebrated at 3 p.m. from Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Donations in memory of Valbert may be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
