Denise Benoit, 67, of Bathurst, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at the Chaleur Regional Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bathurst, Denise was the daughter of the late Lucien and Alfreda (White) Savoie.

Her warmth and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was kind and would take the consideration of others ahead of herself not missing a chance to tell us how much she loved us. She was courageous making brave choices preparing her family for her next journey knowing that she was not afraid gave us much comfort.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Lucien Benoit, and her two sons, Stephane Duguay (Helene) and Jacques Duguay (Chris), who were the light of her life.

Denise will be deeply missed by her siblings: Jocelyne David (late Alfred) of Big River, Gisèle Ross (Paul), Debbie Savoie, Raymond Savoie (late Fernande), Gilles Savoie all of Bathurst, and Daniel Savoie (Lisa) of Robertville.

She was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews who will remember her with love and admiration.

She is predeceased by her beloved sisters Claudette Chiasson (Albany) and Monique Frenette (Jean Paul), and her brothers Roger (Denise), Robert, and Jean-Claude.

She is fondly remembered by her extended family through marriage to Robert Duguay, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

A heartfelt thank you to Sonia, whose loving care brought comfort to Denise in her final days; to her best friend Noella, whose lifelong friendship meant the world to her; and to Julie, for her kindness and for standing by the family during this difficult time. To my godson Eric, it was an honor to be your godmother.

The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the palliative care team at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their compassion and unwavering support.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery

Donations in Denise’s memory can be made to the Bathurst SPCA in recognition for her love of animals especially her beloved Tyson.

Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.
