It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mrs. Carmel Hachey, wife of the late Malcolm Legacy, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst on Saturday September 30, 2023, at the age of 87.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Zita (White) Doucet.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Women’s League and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.

She is survived by two sons: Patrick “Paddy” Hachey of Nova Scotia and Michael Hachey of British Columbia.  Two granddaughters: Daphne and Jenny.

One stepson, Todd Legacy (Van) of New Market, ON and one stepdaughter, Kerry Prendergast of Moncton.  

Step-grandchildren: Brandon Boyd, Tyler Roy, Tyson Roy and Nathan Prendergast and several step-great-grandchildren.

One sister, Nora Doucet of Miramichi and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Ivan, Bernie, Eugene, Theodore “Sunny”, Gregory along with her sisters Eleanor and Marion.

There will be no visitations at the funeral home. A graveside service will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 4 p.m. from the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bathurst. Donations in memory of Carmel may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
