It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of George Ian McLachlan, who died peacefully surrounded by his daughters, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, on May 1st, 2022 at the age of 91.
George will be remembered as a devout man who had a deep love for his creator, Jehovah. He held a special fondness for small babies and children. He loved his children and grandchildren and always remembered to check in with them no matter how spread out around the globe they were. Those who knew him well can recall how much joy he found in eating a good meal and could always be found whistling or singing kingdom melodies with gusto.
He is remembered by his two daughters, Julie (Norbert) Valiquette, and Sandy Thibodeau, his four grandchildren Amanda (James) Hatfield, Andre (Irina) Valiquette, Zabrina (Jean Philippe) Bourgeois, and Mareya Salazar, his three great grandsons, Kaleb Hatfield, Asher Hatfield and Felix Valiquette, and by his brothers and sisters in the faith, the Bathurst Tetagouche congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He is preceded in death by his parents John & Mary (Johnstone) McLachlan, his sister Heather McLachlan, his grandson Jose Miguel Salazar, and his wife of 33 years, Pierrette (Saumur) McLachlan.
A memorial service will be held via zoom by a friend in the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Zoom details and date to follow.
