It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mrs. Edna (Bélanger) Chiasson, wife of the late Jean “John” Chiasson, formerly of St. Camille St, which occurred at the Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the age of 87.

Born in Bridgeville, Québec, she was the daughter of the late François “Frank” Bélanger and the late Elianne Asselin.

She leaves to mourn a daughter, Joanne (Jean-Noël) Arseneau of Dunlop, two sons: Jean-Claude (Glenda) of Pokemouche and François (Nicole Boudreau) of North Tetagouche. Four grandchildren: Julie (Jonathan) Sarson, Monica Chiasson, Billie Chiasson, and Jean-René Arseneau (Rebecca MacFarlane); her great grandchildren whom she adored: Becca, Jack, Samuel and another on the way. She also leaves behind two sisters: Murielle Bélanger and Irène Bélanger both of Montréal, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, a son-in-law David W. Doucet and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Dorine, grandchild Mélanie Chiasson along with her brothers: Norman, Clément, Vallo and sisters: Mary, Margo, Rita, Marianna, Jessie and Marina.

The family will receive family and friend on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) from 2 to 4 p.m. only.

Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Holy Rosary Church in Bathurst.

Donations in memory of Edna may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank the personnel of the Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes for the good care and affection provided to our mother.
