Bathurst - Ronald Edwin Haines, 84, of Riverside Dr., Bathurst, NB, husband of Phyllis (Fraser) Haines, passed away on Wednesday (April 13, 2005) at the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit in Bathurst. Born in Aylesford, NS, on October 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Percy and Idella (Mapplebeck) Haines. He was a RCAF veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Herman J. Good VC, Branch#18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. Ronald was a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and worked at the Bathurst Paper Mill and later at Brunswick Mines, and as a consultant in Nova Scotia. He was a member of the First United Church, Lodge St. John, No. 27 F&AM, of the Masonic Order, Bathurst and his many interests included teaching music to the Air Cadets and volunteering as president, and also treasurer for the Bathurst Music Festival. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons; Fraser (Joyce), Hamilton, ON Bruce, Toronto, ON one granddaughter; Jessica He was predeceased by his youngest son, David. At the request of the family there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home.
