Bathurst – Mrs. Marie Anne Cormier, wife of the late Leo Cormier passed away peacefully August 25, 2015 at the age of 97, at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst, N. B.  Surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Rogersville, N. B. she was the daughter of the late Rosemond and Elmina Richard.

Marie Anne is survived by three sons: Robert (Michelle) of New York City, Maurice (Glenda) of South Tetagouche, N. B. and Donald (Jody) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

Half-sister, Dorina (Jean Claude) Richard of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Catherine, her husband, Leo; one son, Charles as well as her infant half-brother, Alphonse.

Marie Anne was a member of the Ladie Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst, for many years and she loved bowling and dancing and playing cards – she was a hard worker and ran Cormier’s Canteen for many years with her family - as well as keeping the kitchen full of fresh baking for anyone to drop in and have tea.

Visitation will be held at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and Friday, August 28, 2015 from noon until time of funeral.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst.

In Memory of Marie Anne donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. 

Everyone is welcome to join the family at the reception in the church basement after the service in memory of Marie Anne.
