Mr. Thomas Chamberlain of Bathurst, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Georges L. Dumont hospital at the age of 84. Born on July 28, 1923, son of the late Bertha Roy and Charles Chamberlain. He was predeceased by his wife Julia (Doucet) Chamberlain (October 8th, 2007). Thomas will be remembered by many as Uncle Tom of Uncle Tom's Shoe Clinic. He was active with the Bathurst sector of the Canadian Council of the Blind serving for years as chairman of the recreation committee. He is survived by his two daughters: Patricia Chamberlain (Ron Herrington) and Brigitte (Dan Greene); his granddaughters: Kim MacDougall, Dawn Chamberlain and Brandy (Dave Ayles); his great granddaughters: Emma (Kim) and Saydee (Dawn); his two brothers Vincent Chamberlain (Clara) of Bathurst and Hector Chamberlain of Hamilton; two sisters: Gladys Chamberlain of Bathurst and Eva Roberts of Montreal; two sisters-in-law Alma Godin and Eva Guignard; one brother-in-law: Victorin Doucet (Véronique); one sister-in-law by marriage, Léonile Chamberlain; as well as several nephews and nieces. The body rested at Elhatton's Funeral Home. Viewing was on Friday, October 26, 2007 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Saturday, October 27, 2007 from 9-10:30 am. Funeral mass was celebrated at Holy Family Church on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11:00 am. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family would appreciate flowers or donations to a favorite charity.
