Bathurst – It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Lawrence Devereaux, husband of the late Rose-Marie Devereaux of Bathurst, who passed away Monday July 27th, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 85.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late John and Delia (Chamberlain) Devereaux.

Lawrence is survived by three sisters; Stella Thériault (Aurèle), Evangéline Cormier (David), Evelyn Roy (Edgar) all Bathurst and one brother, Patrick Devereaux (Sandy) of Bathurst. 

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Devereaux and three sisters: Albina Roy (Wallace), Evangeline Cormier (David) and Stella Theriault (Aurele).

There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 18, 2026, at 2 pm from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. In memory of Lawrance, donations maybe made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
