It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hans Sprohge on March 10, 2026. He passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, NB after a lengthy illness.

He was the beloved husband of Rosita Sprohge (Suess), father of Jonathan Sprohge, and stepfather of Christopher Stone.

He is survived by his sister Henny Petersitzke and brother Gerhard Sprohge as well as nephews and nieces.

Hans was born in Latvia, grew up in Germany and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 in 1956. He landed in Montreal where he later worked as an auto mechanic. Hans and Rosita married in 1974 and after visiting friends in Bathurst and falling in love with the area decided to move there in 1975. He opened his own business H&R Auto Service specializing in European imports which he ran for 35 years until his retirement. He was well respected for his mechanical expertise.

In his leisure time Hans enjoyed camping, hiking, and travelling with his family.

Hans was baptized on March 17, 1974 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 460 St Anne Street, Bathurst, NB.
