Canobie - Mrs. Valerie Ellen Glendenning, age 64, passed away suddenly at her residence in Canobie on May 18, 2025.
She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sylvia Hawboldt of Churchville NS.
Val was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a familiar face Downshore, where she worked in the kitchen at Jay's Place, as well as in the cafeteria at Janeville Elementary School.
She taught Sunday School at Central United Church in Clifton, NB, as well as lead the Explorers youth group for many years.
She touched the lives of many people over the years with her kind smile, quick wit and the more than occasional sarcastic comment. And she always had room for her "extra" children.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Danny Glendenning, as well as her 3 children, daughter Robyn Mason-Cormier (Marc) of Canobie NB, son Jayme Glendenning (Melissa) of Miramichi NB, and daughter Geri Glendenning of Riverview NB. Also, her pet dog, Dargo, who was always close by, and her "grand-dogs", Bella, Chloe and Loreley.
Her siblings, Theresa, Lynn, Michael, Robert, James, Tanya and Christine.
She was predeceased by her parents, her nephew, Lyle, and many aunts and uncles.
She will be greatly missed by her work family at Comfort Inn Bathurst, where she worked in Laundry for the last year
Val had a love of knitting, bingo, dragons, Star Trek and heavy metal music, and especially the bands Queen, and Lord of the Lost.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Sunday May 25, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm, and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral service will be held at Central United Church in Clifton NB, on Monday May 26, 2025, at 2pm. Donations can be made in her memory to the Bathurst SPCA.
