It is with immense sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved Yvonne on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 73, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bathurst, Yvonne will be deeply missed by her three sons, Andre (Donna), Chris (Rachel), and Dan; her sister, Mary Ann Lavigne; her four grandsons, Trevor, Colin, Oliver, and George, whom she loved so dearly; and her special friend, Don Kenny. She also leaves behind many cherished uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and close friends.

Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Vina Lavigne.

Yvonne always had a special place in her heart for children. She began as a leader in Scouting and later became an educational assistant at Superior Middle School, where she had a remarkable ability to make every child feel valued, important, and included.

She will also be remembered for her love of gardening, reading, and the outdoors. Every March, she eagerly began planning for the gardening season, often shoveling a path to her greenhouse so she could get an early start. Over the years, new flower beds appeared throughout her yard, each one created with care and carrying its own special meaning. She was an avid reader and always seemed to have a book close at hand. Later in life, she discovered a love of dogs. Whether tending to her gardens with a faithful companion by her side or enjoying a walk together, she found great joy in their company.

In keeping with Yvonne's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Family and friends are invited to join the family for a casual gathering near her home on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., where they are welcome to stroll through her gardens and admire her roses in full bloom — a fitting tribute to someone who found so much happiness in nature.

Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral Cemetery in South Bathurst. In memory of Yvonne, donations may be made to the Bathurst Area School Milk Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.
