Bathurst - It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Judy Cumming (b. Judith Beryl Craig), wife to John “David” Cumming which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Thursday April 30, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Earle Kitchener Craig and the late Cora Anna “Winnifred” (Scott) Craig.

Together with her husband, she leaves behind her children: Leigh Ann Cumming (Keith Morrison) of Cambridge Bay Nunavut and Michael Earl Cumming (Jeannine) of Saint John, NB.

Grandchildren: Alexander Cumming of Calgary, AB. and Madison Cumming of Saint John, NB.

Sister-in-law: Elizabeth Craig.

She was predeceased by her brother John “Scott” Craig.

Judy was well known in the community as she was a longtime Registered Nurse at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in the nursery and neonatal care unit. She had a great talent and love for sewing, knitting and was also known for the countless paintings that were shared with friends and family. Judy loved the fur babies in her life - Ginger, Oreo, Diego and Spock. A devoted mother and caregiver to any friends and family in need, there is no doubt that she was a nurse up to the very end of her life - it was her calling.

The family would like to thank the Extra Mural and Palliative Care staff as well as the doctors and nurses for all their care and compassion given to Judy.

There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday May 5, 2026, from The First United Church, Bathurst. Reception will follow at the Donald Eddy Memorial Hall.

Donations in memory of Judy may be made to the SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
