It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Gerard Lavoie loving husband of Linda (McGilvery) Lavoie, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 77 years.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Adrian and the late Marie Anne (Chiasson) Lavoie.
Gerard is survived by one daughter: Lisa Lavoie of Bathurst; one grandson: Lukas O’Connell of Bathurst (son of Mark O’Connell of Moncton); siblings: Gerald (Blondine) Lavoie, Claudette Lavoie, Thérèse Lavoie, and Claude Lavoie all of Bathurst; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gerard worked at Brunswick Mines for 32 years and was a member of the former Quarter Century Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending much of his time in the outdoors. If you were to catch Gerard indoors, you could find him tying flies.
Besides his parents, Gerard is predeceased by one daughter: Cindy Lambro (Jason) of California.
Upon the family’s request, there will be a funeral service held at a later date from Elhatton's Chapel, Bathurst. Donations in memory of Gerard may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the excellent care given to Gerard during his stay at the hospital.
