It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished sister Patricia Sweeney, of Bathurst, New Brunswick, who passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025 surrounded by her family at the Le Foyer Notre-Dame Lourdes in Bathurst, at the age of 59 years.

Born in Toronto, Ontario she was the fourth child of the late Sylvia Sweeney and Bernard (Bern) Sweeney.

Patricia was born with “special needs”, and God could not have picked a better family for Patricia to be born into. We were all very protective and supportive of Patricia through her 59 years.

Patricia was nonverbal for the most part. She could understand everything being said to her and she was capable of saying some words/phrases and she could let you knew exactly what and how she was feeling like saying, “come on”, “shut-up and leave me alone”, “I go to the store” (she loved the Dollar Store), “I wanna eat” (and boy that girl could eat and drink – Pepsi that is).

Patricia loved to ride her bike when she was younger, hum along to her favorite songs (she would get cranky with you if you were talking while one of her favorite songs was playing). She loved flowers, opening presents and dressing up as a witch for Halloween (her witch cackle was too funny). She loved going out to dinner and the movies with her sisters along with sleepovers.

No words can express how much she was loved and cared for. Her parents had dedicated their entire lives caring for and looking after Patricia. She was such a special part of all our lives. She taught us kindness, patience, and above all, unconditional love. She will be greatly missed by all.

Patricia is survived by her father Bernard (Bern) Sweeney; Siblings: Jenny, Nancy, Tommy, and Gary and two predeceased sisters Beverly and Barbara. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia, you were the heart of our family. We will miss your kisses, those not so whispered words in our ears when you wanted to tell us something or possibly gossip, but most of all your sweet face. The only thing that helps to ease the pain of losing you is knowing that you are reunited with Mom and your sisters in heaven. This is not a good bye but until we meet again. Hugs and kisses from your loving family.
